K53 route markers and trailblazers explained
Route markers and trailblazers identify national, provincial and metropolitan routes. Learn each K53 route marker and what its number and colour mean. There are 14 route markers in the K53 Examiner study library below.
Map-type Advance Direction(IS6)On the left-hand side of the road before an intersection.
Information signs(IS1)Information signs supply general information to the road user.
Alternative Route Marker(IS2)At the intersection of toll and alternative routes.
Stack-type Direction(IS3)On the far left-hand corner of an intersection.
Confirmation(IS4)On the left-hand side of the road a short distance beyond an intersection.
Fingerboard(IS5)On the far left-hand corner of an intersection.
Overhead route marker(GE12.6)Make sure which route you want to follow, slow down for the intersection and take the correct route.
Advance direction route marker(GE12.3)Make sure which route you want to follow, slow down for the intersection and take the correct route.
Bicycle route marker(GE17)Do not use this route and look out for cyclists that could suddenly change direction to follow the cycle route.
Direction route marker(GE12.1)Slow down for the intersection and make sure that you take the correct route.
Transport trailblazer(GE10)Join the other route if you want to go to the terminus.
Advance trailblazer(GE2)Follow the traffic signs if you want to join the more important route and look out for the next trailblazer.
