K53 command signs: the blue signs you must obey
Blue command signs in the South African K53 learners test — keep left, proceed straight, minimum speed and more — with meanings and required actions. There are 29 command signs in the K53 Examiner study library below.
Speed limit, time period(CS15)Do not exceed the indicated speed during the times shown on the plate.
Minimum speed sign(R13)Do not drive slower than the speed indicated in km/h.
Vehicles exceeding mass only(R14)On any public road.
Keep Left / Keep Right(R15)Pass to the left or right of the obstruction, as indicated by the sign.
Proceed Left Only(R16)Drive only in the direction indicated by the arrow.
Proceed Right Only(R17)Drive only in the direction indicated by the arrow.
Proceed Straight Only(R18)Drive only in the direction indicated by the arrow.
Turn Left Only(R19)Proceed only in the direction indicated by the arrow.
Turn Right Only(R20)Proceed only in the direction indicated by the arrow.
Pedestrians Only(R21)Do not use the road or part of the road indicated by this sign.
Pedestrians may use only the part of the road indicated by this sign.
Cyclists Only(R22)Do not use the road or part of the road indicated by this sign.

Cyclists and Pedestrians Only(R23)Do not drive on this road or part of this road.
Cyclists and pedestrians may use only that part of the road indicated by these signs. Where this part of the road is divided, cyclists may use the part indicated on the sign by a bicycle symbol.
Pedestrians may use the part indicated on the sign by a pedestrian symbol.
Motorcycles Only(R24)Motorcyclists must follow the route indicated by the road traffic sign.
No driver of any other vehicle may use the road or part of the road indicated by this sign. Motorcyclists may use only that part of the road indicated by this sign.
Motor Cars Only(R25)You may only drive a motorcar on this road or this part of the road.
Taxis only(R26)The driver of the taxi shall use that road.
Minibuses Only(R27)The driver of a minibus shall only use such road or portion of such road.
Midi buses Only(R28)The driver of a midibus shall only use such road or portion of such road.
Buses Only(R29)The driver of a bus shall only use such road or portion of such road.
Delivery Vehicles Only(R30)The driver of a delivery vehicle shall only use such road or portion of such road.
Goods Vehicles Only(R31)The driver of such goods vehicle shall only use such road or portion of such road.
Goods vehicles exceeding an indicated GVM(R32)The driver of such goods vehicle shall only use such road or portion of such road.
Construction Vehicles Only(R33)The driver of a construction vehicle shall only use such road or portion of such road.
Vehicles transporting Dangerous Substances Only(R34)The driver of a vehicle conveying dangerous goods shall only use such road or portion of such road.
Abnormal Vehicles Only(R35)The driver of an abnormal vehicle shall only use such road or portion of such road.
Switch Headlamps On(R36)Switch the lights of your vehicle on in the dip position.
Roundabout(R37)Yield right of way to vehicle approaching from the right within the roundabout, where such vehicles are close enough to cause a danger or potential danger. Proceed clockwise at the junction if it is safe to do so.
Pay toll(R132)Decide in good time whether to pay the toll or take the alternative route.
Rickshaws only(R128)This road or portion of road is reserved for rickshaws.
Residential zone(R403)Drive slowly, obey the special rules mentioned above and be particularly on the lookout for children playing in the street.
